Full Scale Evaluation of GFRP Confined Softwood after Long-Term Exposure to High Humidity Environment

Plantation softwood timber poles are associated with low natural durability, and it is also not clear what the effects of high humidity environment on long-term performance composite action integrity such a system. This paper presents durability study for proposed using (GFRP) glass fiber-reinforced polymer as confinement system wooden sourced from plantation timber. Radiata pine 6 m length were wrapped multiple layers 0°/90° woven roving biaxial E-glass fiber sheets through wet layup process confinement. The prepared GFRP then subjected to environmental conditions up 95 ± 2% relative 22 2 °C temperature period 30 months. Various lengths considered in this ranging 0% 70% span length. had 5.4 tested three-point bending test. Results showed that GFRP-softwood provided satisfactory did greatly affect improvement mechanical provided.
